Wow! I’m a bit late to the party but what an awesome destination. You can plan a day trip around this place. Simply visiting Third Man Records in Detroit is a genuine experience. From the moment you walk through the front door you can see what a cool place this is. The attention to detail - from the sophisticated loft-style architecture, bold use of primary colors, vintage interior elements, and the captivating lighting - there is eye candy everywhere.
.
Third Man Records - Detroit - is a (lp vinyl) record store and if you didn’t already know there is a large lp vinyl (record) pressing factory in the back - which you can view from a large glass wall overlooking the operation. Also there is plenty of stylish merch. In addition to everything else this place has a stage for live concerts. Can’t emphasize enough just how awesome it is to visit… This place rewrites the meaning of hip & cool.
One of a kind spot
Choice selection of quality pressed, locally manufactured vinyl - they record live to acetate and you can only get the records here.
Absolute must visit for any music fan (especially if you love the blues) in Detroit
The first day we were in town there was an album release, not to mention a Jack White concert in Detroit that night, so there was a literal line around the block. We didn’t have time to wait in line but I’m so glad that we stuck around the next morning for the store to open before we left town. What a neat stop for any fan of music. I prefer this Third Man Records shop over the Nashville location. The album pressing shop was very cool to see. There was all sorts of awesome memorabilia to check out. A nice amount of merchandise to choose from. Not to mention the albums on sale. We spent a good amount of time looking at everything.
We were back for a tour, Salem and Bree were great! The tour is well worth the money!
Really cool record store and vinyl pressing facility. We did the paid tour and got to see them press up close. Kinda bummed we couldnt take any photos inside. Still recommend going though!
Had to come here for our first trip to Detroit. Such a cool spot. Could have spent forever just browsing around. Grabbed a few records and a sweater, loved it here! So cool to see the record pressing in the back, watching through the windows, great layout, great product, great staff. Will definitely come back and make that 4 hour drive just to visit again.
A must do for all music enthusiasts. Especially if you’re a fan of Jack White. Now that pressing plant tours are back on, highly recommend checking that out. Staff is super friendly and more than happy to give recommendations or help you out. You can see the pressing plant from the sales floor, which is really cool. Plus they have some of The White Stripes era touring gear that you can use. Love coming here
Really neat store. Looks like a great venue. Band wasn't playing when I was there, but perfect little spot
Wow. First of all… Salem (I hope I’m spelling it right) and the rest of the staff were amazing and friendly. Plus gave us some great advice about Detroit. I cannot say enough nice things about you two. Thank you so much.
This was on my girls bucket list places to go. It was her birthday gift to go down and see. Yes, she bought half the store. Which leads me to the actual review. If you are a fan of anything Jack… they have something’s you want and things you didn’t know you wanted.
Absolutely an amazing place. We went in a Saturday so sadly didn’t get to see the tour. But… definitely making it down again just to see that.
Again. Thank you gang. Cheers, sorry she bought all the things.
